Bio
Ekaterina Ilina was born in Cheboksary, Russia, in 1991. She lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. She studied at the Department of Ceramics and completed courses in monumental art at the Stieglitz Art Academy in Saint Petersburg. Her experience in silent meditative practice and study of Jungian psychoanalysis shaped her interest in exploring the personal and collective unconscious and impermanence. She began her artistic journey with painting, gradually shifting toward a site-specific approach and experimenting with various media. Today, her practice includes painting, textiles, installation, mosaic, sculpture, and metalwork. Since 2024, she has participated in group exhibitions in independent art spaces in Tbilisi and has taken part in artist residencies in Italy, Spain, and Tbilisi.


Artist statement
My artistic practice is a continuous process of experimentation and the poetic transformation of memory. Drawing on the Buddhist practice of Vipassana meditation and Jungian philosophy, I explore themes of impermanence, corporeality, and the search for inner wholeness.
Through an intuitive “archaeology of the unconscious,” I freely experiment with various mediums. While my current focus has returned to painting, my practice remains multidisciplinary, often incorporating textiles, metal, glass, and sculptural elements.
I believe that the contemplation of beauty can offer consolation and inner harmony. My work is an invitation for the viewer to experience a sense of timelessness and to enter into a quiet dialogue with the intimate and the eternal.
